Workshop 14 – Safe and Sound

One special aspect of Dig School is that, along with online learning, it offers the chance to experience archaeological excavation for yourself from a dig in your own school or garden – but there’s more to doing this properly than just knowing the right archaeological processes.

Safe and Sound imparts the secrets of safe and happy test pit digging, from the Dos and Don’ts of choosing a site for your excavation, to identifying potential risks and knowing how to avoid them – including a great ‘Spot the hazard’ visual challenge – and finally tips on reporting your findings online.

Please Note: We advise that you first complete Workshop 13: DIY Dig before undertaking this workshop.
